Contemporary Portraits

Sometimes my portraits are of identifiable individuals, and sometimes they are 'fictional' portraits, in which the original identity becomes layered and altered with the passage of time.

I seek much more than a visual, surface likeness. It is the essence of an individual which is of importance to me, not a photorealistic depiction.

In fact, I like to experiment with my portrait works in particular. Vibrant colours, varied textures, features obliterated or emphasised . . . all is fair game for my adventurous, playful spirit.
